Vertical Deviation Indicator (Item 14) is not displayed on the EXP5000 PFD when completing checks Instrument Panel Self-Test with a NON-WAAS GPS.

NOTE:  Vertical Deviation is only an option with a WAAS GPS source.

EXP5000 PFD with IFD540/440 installations: (See ARINC429 Configurations Below)

*Ensure that the ARINC429 configuration page (Below) is set to "Enable Labels".  If Labels are not enabled then the VDI will not be displayed on the PFD when the IFD is in the Instrument Panel Self-Test mode.

Typical IFD to EXP5000 installations will be configured as follows:

In1:  Low     Honeywell EFIS

Out: Low     GAMA 429 Graphics w/Int

SDI:     Common

VNAV: Enable Labels (WAAS Only)

Instrument Panel Self-Test page:

When the IFD is initially powered on, the following page will be displayed.  This is Avidyne's Instrument Panel Self-Test page referenced in Section 4.2.3 of the PFD Installation manual 600-00141-001 Rev 05.

When the IFD has successfully transitioned to the Instrument Panel Test page, the PFD will display the message below in the lower right hand corner when GPS(x) is selected.  The VDI will also become visible on the PFD at that time.  After leaving the Instrument Panel Test page, both the message below and the VDI will be removed.

When the Instrument Panel Self-Test page is displayed on the IFD540/440, you will be able to verify the following information on the EXP5000 with the exception that the waypoint is labeled as AVDYN:

Once all the information above has been verified, press the "Enter" key to boot in to normal flight mode.

EXP5000 PFD with GNS430W/530W installations: (See ARINC429 Configurations Below)
